Edmund Bon Tai Soon


Edmund read law at University College London and was called to the English Bar (Lincoln’s Inn) in 1997. He holds a Masters degree from Oxford University and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1998. He was a five-time elected member of the Bar Council and previously chaired the Constitutional Law, National Young Lawyers and Human Rights committees.

Edmund represents individuals, financial institutions, public-listed companies, multi-national corporations and governments at all stages of complex business transactions – from establishing companies and contract negotiations to dispute resolution and arbitration. In particular, he provides corporate and strategic litigation advice.

Edmund is a specialist counsel with extensive trial and appellate court experience and routinely appears in the courts instructed on a range of briefs in the following areas of law: capital markets, commercial, corporate, construction, criminal, defamation, land, matrimonial, personal injury, water, administrative, constitutional, human rights, and private international law.

Edmund practises in the firm of BON, Advocates and utilises BON’s self-crafted total law solution to deploy various practical legal methods and strategies in the application of the law for his clients’ benefit. He has conducted more than 800 hours’ worth of training and workshops on law-related subjects for private clients and the public. He is also regularly consulted by the Malaysian Bar, public authorities and non-governmental organisations on law reform, and speaks at local and international conferences on legal issues.
